SPORTING TYKES SOCCER

Chloe and Will played soccer for a few weeks this fall through the local YMCA.  They had a great time learning some basic skills.

Coach Anna and Team Leopards.

Warming up together.

Not so sure what to do?

Pre-game huddle.

GO LEOPARDS!!! (imagine 9 little voices squealing this as loud as they can)

Loving Will's determined face and arm swing.

Great teammates.

Being goalie was a favorite...

...for Will too.

Not sure what the tummy flash was for - distracting the other team?!

Good game high fives were almost more complicated than playing soccer!

Super happy medal and fruit snack soccer players.

I hope that they love playing together for many years to come.

At one point this season, one of their teammates yelled out, "I smell victory!", after a goal was scored.  He then paused and said, "Wait, what does victory mean?"  The parents on the sideline had a good laugh.

PROUD PARENTS

BRAG ALERT!

We got this note from Chloe's kindergarten teacher a few weeks ago.  I can't even begin to describe how this note makes me feel.  A young lady who is kind to others and behaves well.  So nice to know that our hard work as parents is paying off.

NO LABOR ON LABOR DAY

We asked the kids what one activity they wanted to do over the long holiday weekend.  Will picked playing at a new to us park, Fairway Park, and playing in the sand.  Chloe chose a trip to the zoo.

Will loved digging in the sand.

Chloe loved swinging.  Underdogs are her favorite.

Early morning dress up - Rapunzel and a construction worker.

A few rounds on the carousel make for happy kids.

We're taking a trip on the train.

Both kiddos love taking pictures in these cutouts at the zoo.

We also hit up the pool for the last trip of the season.  Chloe and Will were so much more comfortable in the water by the end of the summer.  It's fun to watch them fall in love with the pool.  They are NOT fans of the lifeguards' loud whistles.  We tried to explain to them that this was our summer job when we were younger.  I don't think quite get the idea of us as younger people.

AUGUST

We made an outdoor chalkboard for our backyard.  Despite the looks on their faces, Chloe and Will are excited about the new edition to the backyard.

Elisha and Laurell were our overnight babysitters at the beginning of August so we could have a late 14th anniversary celebration and a good night's sleep.  Not sure they slept much but our kids had the best time spending time with them.

What to do when you have a few extra minutes before you need to be at school?  Stop and check out the corn, of course!  Lehi would periodically stop with Chloe and Will to measure how much the corn had grown during the summer.

These are the cute faces I arrived home to on a Wednesday evening.  Not sure why the winter frog hat was necessary to watch Jake and the Neverland Pirates, but it made me smile.

First day of school.  Chloe is officially a kindergartener and Will is in the Preschool 2 class.  Loving the arms around each other.

Silly monkey faces.

Chloe working on her homework for the evening while dinner gets made.

Will's version of homework...time in the sandbox so that dinner can get made.  This little guy is so good at entertaining himself.

Hosting COUSIN NIGHT at our house.  Elisha offered to watch all the cousins one Friday night.  It was a no brainer to accept this gracious offer!  It was such a success we decided to keep this up and rotate who hosts cousins while the other couples get a date night out for a few hours.  BEST.IDEA.EVER!!!  Our evening was one of the warmest of the month so we played outside in the water and got sticky with bubbles.

Popsicles to cool everyone down.  Please excuse the house in the background.  We are finally getting around to painting the exterior this fall.

JULY IN PHOTOS

Here are a few photos from July.

Post pool time smiles.  We spent a lot of our weekends at the pool this summer but never took any pics of our water fun.  The cooler temps made walking on the cement tolerable for the kids.

New shoes for Chloe so she can play soccer at Primrose.

Friday theme days during the month at Primrose.  Prince Will and Princess Chloe.  Cowgirl Chloe and Cowboy Will.  They both loved being able to dress up.

Some of our early garden bounty.  We enjoyed a BUNCH of cucumbers, some zucchini and a variety of tomatoes as well as fresh herbs.

Family photo after roasting hot dogs and marshmallows in our fire pit.  We took advantage of this unseasonably cool weekend by spending most of our time outside.

Overnighter in the backyard.  Lehi wanted to camp with the kids in the backyard while it was so cool.  We only had 3 sleeping bags so I spent the night inside and enjoyed a great night of sleep.  Lehi and the kids stayed up late, read books, played Go Fish and looked at the stars.  I don't think much sleeping occurred that night but both kids could not stop talking about how much fun they had sleeping in the tent.  There have been many more requests for a repeat "camping" experience!  Chloe and Will are so incredibly lucky to have a Dad who was willing to forgo a night of zzz's to create such a lasting memory!

JUNE SUMMER FUN

Our kiddos have long full days at Primrose while Lehi and I are at work.  Lehi suggested that they get a little "summer vacation" this year.  With a bit of creative scheduling and some much appreciated help from family we were able to make it happen.  Thanks to grandparents, aunts and cousins for all of their help.

We found a great deal on these bikes on craigslist.  Both C&W are having a great time pedaling around the neighborhood.

Elisha and Matt made it official!  We enjoyed an adults only evening out while our kiddos enjoyed some quality time with Tashina at home.

Playing at Antioch Park with our cousins was so much fun.  It's tricky trying to get 6 littles to look in the same place at the same time!

C&W enjoyed a couple of trips to the zoo with their dad.  Multiple carousel rides and a trip (or two) around the zoo on the train is a must in our family.

We spent the end of June road-tripping to Birmingham to meet our newest little cousin, sweet little Evie.  Both kiddos did great in the car and had a blast swimming at our hotel pool.  We enjoyed delicious food, lots of good family time and evenings filled with firefly catching.

Chloe had weekly gymnastics sessions during the summer.  She loved jumping on the trampoline and flopping into the foam pit.  C&W also had swimming lessons.  They both LOVE being in the pool but were not the biggest fans of swimming lessons.  We will try again next year.

WELCOME!

Welcome to our little space!  I have wanted a place to share pictures and stories of our life for quite some time now.  I am finally just going to take the leap into blogland and see how this goes.  Hope you all enjoy keeping up with our day to day activities.
